Steps to creating your own international away at UIC at Peoria.
Select Department
Each away must be approved by a UICOMP department (e.g. OB-GYN, Pediatrics, Family Medicine). When you are looking for a place to do your international away, select a corresponding department at the clinic or hospital where you plan to work during your away. You will also have to create a course plan with objectives and present this for approval.
Get Department Approval
Primary approval is done by the Chair of the UICOMP. The department chairs will want to ensure that you have a doctor overseeing your work and that the proposed tasks meet the department's standards for a rotation.

Get Dean's Approval
Secondary approval is done by the Office of Academic Affairs. This step of the approval process is to make sure you have completed all the necessary steps, confirm that the student has chosen a safe location.

Evaluation by Observing Physician
In order to receive credit for your international away experience, a physician who observes your work must evaluate you using a standard evaluation form. The form can be found on the M4 Blackboard's site with other information about international away rotations.
